My Winter Cycle
I'm riding in the PMC Winter Cycle at Fenway Park on Saturday, February 1, 2025, and I've made a personal commitment to raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
In September of 2024, Nolan was diagnosed with testicular cancer (on his 2nd birthday). After surgery, pathology, CT scan, bloodwork and 500 viewings of Pixar's Cars, Nolan was staged at stage 1, and placed under surveillance. During this time we were planning a move back home to Massachusetts and worked closely with the Jimmy Fund Clinic to transfer all Nolan's medical records to establish a second opinion and ongoing care here. The attention, follow up, and communication has been outstanding. Despite the constant underlying fear of relapse, knowing he is under the microscope of Dana Farber / Jimmy Fund brings us so much comfort.
So, I ride for a cure. I ride for pediatric cancer awareness. I ride to support cancer research. I ride for Nolan. I ride for all the parents who have had to hear a doctor tell them their child has cancer. I ride for the incredibly brave children facing this disease. I ride to not let the fear get the best of me. I ride for those who cannot.
In the words of my incredibly brave cancer surviving friend and support system, Erinn, cancer can suck a cactus!!!!
