Hi All,
Welcome to my fundraising profile! I will be participating this February in my first ever Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) event, the Winter Cycle. This will be an indoor event taking place on a stationary bike in Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox. I started working at Dana-Farber in late August, and since then I have been inspired daily by our patients, clinical staff, my colleagues, and our donors. For those of you who know me, you know that while I personally do not love biking, my dad is the biggest biker I know. He has ridden countless years for Get Your Guts in Gear and Bike MS. I am incredibly excited to add to our family's living history of riding for a cause, and what a cause this is.
We alll know someone who has or will be impacted by cancer in our lifetimes. In the United States, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This rate is only increasing as we increase our intake of microplastics, radiation, and other risk factors. Dana-Farber is actively working to treat, prevent, and defy cancer. Over the last seven years, Dana-Farber has had a hand in developing over half of FDA approved cancer drugs. We have opened 3 new care facilities, and expanded to offer more than 1,100 clinical trials.
I am incredibly grateful to my family, friends, and amazing network who I am counting on to help me reach this milestone. Last year, the PMC raised over $75 million dollars for Dana-Farber, giving the PMC a whopping total of $1.47 billion dollars since its founding in 1980. 100% of rider raised funds goes to Dana-Farber. The PMC is the largest athletic fundraising event in the country, and it is the largest individual donor to Dana-Farber. I am proud to be supporting such an incredible event that raises money for such an admirable cause. If you are able, it would mean so much for me to have you donate to my ride.
