One week from today on February 4, Shane and I will participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge Winter Cycle at Fenway Park. As I embark on my seventh year riding in the PMC, my dad is recovering from treatment for his third cancer. This year, the PMC means that much more to me and my family as the oncologists at Dana Farber are helping my dad slowly get back to his healthy, kitchen-sink-smoothie-drinking self.

If you’re not familiar with my dad’s story, he is a two-time survivor of cancer. He battled through two unrelated cancer treatments (Oropharyngeal cancer & Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma) in just three years.

Every penny donated to our ride goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in support of cancer research, so no donation is too small. This is so important for exceedingly rare cancers like the one my dad is currently fighting that many oncologists have not heard of. We all love someone who has experienced the horror of cancer, and the Pan-Mass Challenge (the largest athletic fundraising event in the country!) is an opportunity to change that.
